Respiratory

   

A respiratory therapist is trained and skilled to assess and treat patients who have difficulty breathing. They work with people of all ages, from infants to the elderly, and are essential members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.  Your Respiratory Therapist will collaborate with the provider and nurses to provide compassionate, high-quality care to all areas of the hospital.

The Respiratory Therapy department helps manage the care of patients with cardiopulmonary issues such as:

  • asthma
  • COPD
  • pneumonia
  • cardiovascular disorders
  • trauma
  • COVID-19

Our licensed respiratory therapists perform therapeutic and life support procedures including:

  • administration of oxygen and aerosol medications
  • treatment of inpatient and swingbed patients
  • electrocardiograms
  • oximetry studies
  • chest physiotherapy
  • pulmonary function testing
  • holter monitors
  • arterial blood gas analysis
  • stabilizing, treating and managing ER patients
  • initiation and management of mechanical ventilation
