Occupational therapy helps people across all ages participate in meaningful activities and enhance their overall quality of life. Occupational therapy is essential for recuperation after illness or injury that impacts daily function. Therapy can also assist with a variety of disabilities and promote overall health through different treatment strategies.
Our Occupational Therapist creates individualized treatment plans to address each patient’s unique needs and goals. Areas addressed may include basic skills such as dressing and bathing, as well as higher-level skills such as cooking, yard work, hobbies, and returning to work. OTs work toward helping people participate in life activities (occupations) and provide recommendations for independence in their unique settings.
This therapy differs from physical therapy in that occupational therapy focuses on self-care and using occupation or “activity” for the purpose of therapeutic intervention.
You may see an occupational therapist without a referral, which is termed direct access. However, we welcome referrals from all providers! Occupational therapy is a service that is covered by most medical insurance plans. Our OT is currently accepting pediatric, adult & geriatric patients.
